Open Question: What type of oil should I use in my Mustang?

I've got a 1996 Mustang GT with a 4.6L V8. There is a bit of valve noise after it warms up and I know putting a heavier weight oil will reduce this. Manufacturer recommends 5w20 (after an update to the manual that originally states 10w30). I'm going to be using Lucas oil stabilizer with the next oil size and wonder what oil weight I should put with it, I'm thinking 10w30, but have been getting equal number of people saying 10w40. What do you recommend? or better yet, What do you use in your 4.6L Mustang? I am aware that it will need a valve job/rebuild and that this will not be a permanent fix, merely a bandaid....
